First Trip to the ER

This weekend was a mommy weekend! I was throwing a bachelorette party/slumber party for my future SIL last night and it had a no men/no children rule. So we decided that hubby was going to and stay at his parents house so that KG could hangout with her grandparents. Hubby's dad only has Saturdays off so they had lots of things planned to do. So I was lazy this morning and didn't do much. I scrapbooked some thank you cards for my upcoming interviews this week and then I was reading some classroom discipline material trying to get better prepared for said interviews. Imagine my surprise when I answer the phone to hear hubby say I'm taking KG to the ER meet us there!

I had talked to hubby several time throughout the day and things were going great. They had swung and played outside and had just made a trip to walmart to get some beans for Nana. (KG LOVES trips to Walmart!) Anywho Russ said they went back to the house and rode on the 4-wheeler for a little bit around the farm and then KG got back and decided she wanted to go fishing with her Pap-paw while Nana finished dinner.

So she is fishing and starts fussing. Pap-paw checks on her and sees that she has 3 ant bites on her feet. So Russ takes her inside because she always gets a huge bump when she gets bit. So hubby said that within 5 mins of getting her in the house and putting some after bite and ice on her bites that her eyes started getting puffy and she was getting dots all over her face. So he told him mom it was emergency room time.

That was the longest hours drive that I have ever made in my life. THe whole time I prayed and tried to stay calm. It's so hard when something is wrong with your baby and you don't know what. When I had talked to him on the phone as they drove all I could hear was her screaming. I don't think I will ever forget that sound!

Anyway, they got her there and she ended up with a shot of benadryl, steroids, and ephrenrine. The swelling started going down so they sent us home.Thank goodness for hubby's ability to spot something wrong and then drive 90 to get her to the hospital. That was such a scary thing!!! I don't think I've ever hugged her so tight and I think I scared her with the crying when I came in the ER door and saw her. I just wanted to hold her even though she was over being held!
